Visits iRacing HQ in Bedford, MA
Jeffrey Strong - 27-Aug-2009
So what did
you do today? I went and toured the iRacing facility.
excited.
Our Club Massachusetts Manager, Mark Royer arranged for 11
of us to tour of the iRacing facility today.
After a one hour drive from my home to Bedford, MA the home
of iRacing, we were welcomed by iRacing's Media Relations
Steve Potter who, after thanking us for our interest, laid
out an agenda that was jam packed including time with
iRacing's President Tony Gardner, a one hour Q&A session
with co-founder & CEO/CTO David Kaemmer, 1/2 hour with
vehicle dynamics engineer Ian Berwick, a facility tour, 20
minutes behind the scenes look at Indianapolis Motor
Speedway track design with Greg Hill, and wrapping up with
turning laps in the iRacing Sim Center in the recently
announced but not yet released Dallara I 09 IndyCar at
Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Oh, and if you had any doubt
217MPH is fast. (oh... and one member of the group,
who will remain nameless, managed to discretely find and
drive the Corvette...shhh.)
It was a great time; an inside look at what goes into the
production of this great Sim. There will also be some
more exciting updates from the iRacing next week. The
iRacing staff were all giddy about it but careful not to let
the cat out of the bag.
And if that wasn't enough we came home with some iRacing
swag, and a BFG on my face.
The following
Club Mass and Club New England drivers attended the visit:
Mark Royer
Jeff Strong
Ray Bryden
Ryan Field and his father
